The Self Contained Teacher

Classroom teaching in a primary elementary school level receives their education in a self contained classroom. The pupils in a self contained classroom stay with the same teacher usually their class/homeroom adviser throughout the instructional time each day. The teacher will be responsible for all content areas: mathematics, science, MSEP( Musik, Sining, Edukasyon sa Pagpakatao) , (HKS) Heograpiya,Kasaysayan at Sibika, ,ESP, English, and Pilipno . It is assumed that a teacher in a self contained classroom knows the needed information about all subject areas. He/she must be flexible absorbing general information in each subject in order to impart tem to pupils.  They are called in this regard as Jack of All Trades teacher.
The general education teacher will spend most of the day with the pupils with the exception of recess, lunch time, physical education, music or flag ceremonies or flag retreats. He/she holds them more intimately including their parents. Thus, communication to them is easier/accessible because of close monitoring on the accomplishments, behavior and other aspects about the pupils. Aside from the aforementioned benefits of the self contained classroom is the flexibility in scheduling subject matters. If sometimes there are lesson in a subject that needed more time to emphasize to pupils, time in other subject could be used by a self contained teacher which, however, is subsequently set off on the next day.
For instance I was a self contained classroom teacher last year, I have spent teaching subject more time on a certain lesson. I have the chance to continue and extend the lesson without the pressure of following a regimented schedule.
Hence, as a self contained classroom teacher, its structure allows me for more instructional time due to the lack of class transition or changes of teachers as compared to a departmentalized teaching. I am responsible for all subject matters being taught to pupils.
